Rachel's Bio
Born and raised in Wollongong, Australia, Rachel found her love of the arts at a young age and never looked back. She began her dramatic studies at the age of 11, which lead to the completion of a Bachelor of Stage and Screen Acting from Charles Sturt University in 2019. Since then, Rachel has performed locally and inter-state in professional productions, alongside many community theatre productions. She began her formal vocal training in 2024 with the Sandy Basham School of Contemporary Singing and prior to that had already begun professional cabaret singing and musical theatre performance. She is currently based in Sydney, where she performs as an actor and singer, whilst continuing to direct and produce works in the Wollongong area.
Rachel's most recent musical theatre performances include Sebastian in The Little Mermaid, Judy Bernly in 9 to 5 the Musical, The Queen of Hearts in Alice by Heart, Tanya in Mamma Mia and Annas in Jesus Christ Superstar. Notably, Rachel played Lizzie Borden in the Australian amateur premiere of Lizzie the Musical in 2024. She regularly performs her favoured style of sultry jazz in cabarets, burlesque and variety shows.
Rachel's acting credits range far and wide in many different styles, although she has a soft spot for Shakespeare, having performed in the roles of Beatrice (Much Ado About Nothing), Ariel and Prospero (The Tempest), Helena and Quince (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Malcolm and Witch (Macbeth), and Mercutio and Friar Lawrence (Romeo and Juliet). As a member of The Dire Theatre Company, Rachel toured many of these Shakespearean roles into schools. She has also performed in several other notable plays including Dracula, Earthquakes in London, Picnic at Hanging Rock, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. In 2024, Rachel toured an original work titled Radio Hour to The Brisbane Anywhere Festival, where the company performed traditional radio plays in a fully immersive, live foley, blindfolded experience. Rachel's film credits include several students films and a featured extra role in Beyond Empathy, a locally-shot feature-length film.
Rachel's production credits include direction, choreography, scriptwriting, and production of several plays, musicals and cabaret / burlesque shows. Notably, she directed and choreographed a production of Footloose!, whilst also directing a theatrical production of Animal Farm in the same year (2023). She launched the Hot 'n' Fresh Burlesque show as co-producer in 2022 and continues to produce it as an opportunity for emerging and established burlesque performers in Wollongong.
Rachel has also worked professionally as a burlesque dancer and teacher under the performer name of Trixie Vixen from 2022 and competed in State Competitions. She considers herself to be a mover, rather than a dancer, but has had training in Ballet, Jazz, Commercial, Burlesque and Tap.
In a nutshell, Rachel has weaved creativity into every part of her life, whether it's costume design, cosplay, endless games of Dungeons and Dragons, or Live Action Roleplaying made-up fantasy heroes, she is always finding ways to add performance or creativity to her life! She strongly believes that art has the power to change lives and the art of making people laugh or cry is a privilege she values greatly.
